Community-Centered Research

In March 2020, Connecticut schools closed due to COVID-19, revealing deep-seated racial, economic, and social inequities. Over 500 young people shared their pandemic experiences and views on systemic injustices, highlighting the disproportionate effects on youth of color. 

Connecticut Voices for Children and the Yale Law School Youth Justice Project conducted the first-ever statewide analysis of the agreements governing how police officers interact with students in Connecticut schools.

Waterbury Bridge to Success partnered with an external research team to examine Connecticut Kindergarten Entrance Inventory (KEI) data on the school readiness of nearly 1,500 Waterbury kindergarten students.​

NEST and The Dawn Chorus Group mapped the assets of Waterbury's Crownbrook and South End neighborhoods, identifying the people, places, and institutions that make these communities strong.
